There Will Be An Expansion This Year In Path Of Exile

Path of Exile is already thinking about its next league, 3.3.0. With a little more than two months left, as it leaves on June 1, GGG wanted to give the first details of everything that is to come. The most important will be the changes in the beast system and the redesigned skills (traps). It is also intuited that there will be an expansion during the final moments of 2018.

In just less than a month, we’re going to start promotion for Path of Exile’s next big release – currently known as Content Update 3.3.0. While it’s too early to reveal the full details of this release, we wanted to answer some general questions about its scope so that you have an idea of what to expect (and when).


Is 3.3.0 an Expansion or League?
After a few years of alternating expansions and leagues, we released two expansions back-to-back in late 2017. Our March release blurred the line between an expansion and a league (with a league alongside a significant Ascendancy revamp, introduction of the Uber Elder fight and new skills). We are pitching 3.3.0 in a similar way. It is branded as a league, but is certainly a large release compared to leagues of the past.

In parallel, we are also working on our next big expansion for release later this year.

What’s 3.3.0′s League like?
When designing 3.3.0′s league, we wanted to reinforce the core of what makes Path of Exile fun to play: killing monsters, gaining experience and earning items in every area you enter. We’ll talk more about this league when it’s being announced next month. If you enjoyed leagues that involved a lot of monster-killing like Ambush and Breach, you’ll certainly enjoy this one.

What else is included in 3.3.0?
Alongside many smaller features you can read about on announcement day, a huge push in 3.3.0 is skill revamps and facilitating new builds. Normally we’d keep this balance information quiet until announcement day, but I have been encouraging the team to write news posts that explain the changes so that you can give us feedback and begin to think about new builds. In addition to the revamps, there are also a bunch of new Trap skills that go hand-in-hand with balance changes to make Trappers a lot more powerful this league. It’s our belief that every Path of Exile release needs a really compelling and rewarding league, alongside enough skill and metagame changes to have many exciting builds for you to look forward to experiencing that content with.

What’s the timeline for 3.3.0? When should I book time off work?
We currently expect to release 3.3.0 on Friday June 1. The Xbox One version will be released after that weekend, as close as possible to the PC version. While we’re pretty confident in this date (because 3.3.0′s league and many of the balance changes are already in the gameplay iteration phase), it could still change if something unexpected occurs. We’ll announce the final firm date in approximately a month.

Are you running an Alpha test for 3.3.0?
Yes, we will be, after the contents are announced next month. Please don’t apply for Alpha access based on reading this – it doesn’t work like that.

What’s happening with Supporter Packs? When are the War for the Atlas ones going away?
3.3.0 has its own set of league supporter packs. When these are released, the Bestiary ones will go off sale (we’ll give you notice before this occurs, of course). The War for the Atlas packs will remain on sale until the next big expansion, which will also be announced in advance so you can plan your purchases appropriately.

Are you still making improvements to Bestiary?
Yes, alongside developing 3.3.0, we’re working on addressing feedback and fixing issues in the Bestiary League. An example is solving the issue where Red/Yellow beasts can be shattered or have their corpses destroyed, preventing Necromancy Nets from working on them.

Is there going to be some type of race event before 3.2.0 ends?
Yes, we’re planning a big Flashback event from early to late May, on both PC and Xbox One. We’ll post more information as we approach it! This doesn’t rule out the possibility of community or invitational races, which we’re also trying to make happen.

Path Of Exile Will Expand In March With Bestiary League

It will be available in March along with dozens of new items, gems and content for the end of the game.

The dark world of Path of Exile will expand in March with new items and challenges framed in the Bestiary League, a series of new challenges with which the hunter and scavenger Einhar Frey will teach us to hunt, capture and sacrifice beasts with the ultimate goal of make powerful items.

Path Of Exile Scion Tips For Unlocking And Building

Path of Exile is an online action role-playing game set in a dark fantasy world. Playing as one of seven unique character classes, players find themselves banished for their past misdeeds to the world of Wraeclast. There, they encounter hundreds of species of deadly enemies laden with loot and mysterious artifacts as they explore the abandoned continent. In this article, we’ll talk about the last class – Scion.

The daughter of corrupt nobles, the Scion was exiled to Wraeclast for killing her husband on her wedding night. She is aligned with all three core attributes – Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence, which places her right in the center of our passive skill tree. She’s not a starting character because she starts with no specialty and isn’t suggested for new players.

Unlock Scion

Scion is the seventh and the last character class, which can by unlocked by completing the main quest-line with one of the existing heroes. Do note that talking to the Scion is the only requirement to unlock her. You do NOT have to beat the final boss to use her. If you really wanted, you could unlock her, quit the game, and start over using her without ever beating the game once.

Towards the end of Act III (the final act), you will head to an area called “The Scepter of God.” This is the area that literally leads to the final boss of the game. Right before said final boss of the game, there is a stairway leading up to him. At the base of this staircase, there is a woman locked in a steampunk looking testing-jail cell type device. Open this up and the Scion is inside. You’ll see a yellow exclamation mark above her head. Talk to her, listen to her story, receive the freedom achievement, and now you can play as the Scion. After having a conversation with her, you can select Scion for a new game in character creation menu.

Scion Building

Initially, her skill points are equally divided between strength, agility, and intelligence, which makes her a really versatile character. Her ability to use just about everything, whether its ranged, melee, or spellcasting, is what makes unlocking it worth the effort as a whole new world of possibilities in terms of character builds and ways of playing. This allows you to develop the cute blonde in any way you fancy.

This unique position allows her to develop into almost any type of character build, while lacking the dedicated specialisation that our six existing classes offer. The great thing about the Scion prestige class is her unparalleled versatility, which lets players make up a whole ton of builds in various configurations and purposes in different ranges and damage delivery methods. Because of her high learning curve, she’s initially unavailable to new players. They must play through Path of Exile’s Normal Difficulty (in any league) to unlock her as an accessible character. Her starting skill is Spectral Throw.

For a melee Scion, some of the best builds for Scion include the use of Cyclone and Dual Strike, like that for Marauder and Duelist. With ranged builds, she can be played like a Ranger or bow Shadow. Many builds make use of Bow-Split Arrow, some with Frenzy for the charges and extra critical damage. Bow-Piercing is also viable due to the multiple attack possibilities like using Flame Arrow or other gems for more versatility, as well as Bow-Poison Arrow for those added effects. There are also tons of other spellcasting builds like those using Cold Snap, Detonate Dead, Ethereal Knives, Incinerate, and so on with devastating results. They’re mostly about casting AOE damage through various ways and reaping rewards from it. There are some though that are more on summoning for some cheap meat shields for survivability and creative ways to deliver damage over a wide area.

In addition to these, there are more builds for the Scion that unlock various creative ways to play the character, making this class and Path of Exile such a compelling game in the long run. Path Of Exile Has Linear Skill Systems

Path of Exile is an old school RPG in which there are absolutely all the attributes of the genre, including crowds of monsters, isometrics and a great goal. Nearly all action RPGs had linear skill systems, so dOES Path of Exile.

You slot this gem into a matching socket on a piece of equipment (same colour) and you’re then granted that ability. That ability will gain experience for as long as you’ve got it equipped, eventually levelling up to get more powerful, much like you do. It makes you can find skills just lying around like you can any other loot, so you can stumble across an awesome spell and start using just like you can a weapon. 19 Ascendancy Classes In Path Of Exile

The Slayer class focuses on raw power and maintaining sustainability as they fight. They possess bonuses to life leech and stun and passives such as Bane of Legends gives them an edge against tougher monsters. Due to the minor nodes all having increased attack speed and two-handed damage bonuses, this class is well suited for attack skills for two-handed weapons and bows.


The Gladiator takes the hybrid nature of the Duelist a step further, with a combination of speed, power, and protection. The Gladiator works well with dual wielding or one-handed weapon (including wands) and shield combinations. The class offers opportunities to build around applying bleed, improving the player’s blocking, and enhancing Endurance and Frenzy Charges.


The Champion is a defensive/support class that can act as a tank for their party by taunting enemies, buffing their allies with an aura, or Intimidate enemies to reduce their defenses. They also have access to passives that grant them offensive bonuses while they have Fortify and uniquely possess the ability to permanently Fortify themselves. The tree grants increased armour and evasion rating across the board to further bolster their survivability as well.

Ascendancy Class for Shadows

The Shadow is Path of Exile’s dexterity/intelligence hybrid class. He prefers to use fast-hitting weapons such as daggers or claws to dart in and out of battle, while laying traps or remote mines and controlling the flow of combat.


The Assassin is a offense-oriented class centered around critical strikes. The class offers enhanced crits on full or low life enemies and enhancing their power charges. His tree also has options for damage over time with bleeding and poison with added synergy with critical strikes.


The Saboteur focuses on improving his traps and mines with utility bonuses rather than straight damage or critical strike increases. This class also expands on blind as an offensive and defensive mechanic.


The Trickster is a versatile hybrid class that mixes high speed, maneuverability, and slippery defenses. It is well-suited for Shadows that deal damage over time, as Swift Killer and Patient Reaper both grant significant enhancements to damage over time effects. Swift Killer also grants a reliable way to generate Power and Frenzy charges while increasing the maximum of both. Ghost Dance and Shade Form provide powerful hybrid defenses while further increasing the Trickster’s speed. Finally, Weave the Arcane and Walk the Aether grant bursts of mana and speed, respectively.

Ascendancy Class for Marauders

The Marauder is Path of Exile’s pure strength class, which means that he’s great at taking hits, and even better at dishing out punishment.


The Juggernaut class revolves around defenses, providing physical damage reduction through armour and endurance charges, protection against slows and stuns, and accuracy.


The Berserker is geared towards being in the heat of combat, with many of their skills requiring killing or being hit recently. These bonuses include life leech, attack speed, damage reduction, and warcry enhancements. This class aims for attack-oriented character builds.


The Chieftain focuses on dealing additional fire damage through his attacks and totems. He can greatly enhance the utility of his totems, making them more resilient, taunting enemies they hit, and weakening nearby enemies. The Chieftain can also boast large amounts of life regeneration through his enhanced Endurance charges and life leech through the fire damage he and his totems deal, making him surprisingly tough to kill in the heat of combat.

Ascendancy Class for Witches

The Witch is Path of Exile’s pure intelligence class, making her an unmatched master of the elemental and dark arts.


The Necromancer is a class that mainly focuses on summoned minions. She can buff their defenses, attacks, or her own auras to benefit her minions. However, Necromancers are not limited only to summoning builds. Her mastery of death through Mistress of Sacrifice, Spirit Eater, and Beacon of Corruption gives her wide utility over using and consuming corpses and all grant the Necromancer herself large personal boosts.


Elementalists deal in all things elemental. They have access to conditional but powerful element damage bonuses, which users of multiple elements can benefit the most effectively from. They can also specialize in elemental status ailments with Shaper of Desolation, allowing them to apply elemental status ailments from all types of damage, even physical or chaos damage.


Occultists are suited for Witches with a focus on chaos damage or curses. Malediction greatly enhances curse specialists, while Profane Bloom and Void Beacon amplify the output of chaos damage. Occultists are well-served by builds that rely on & maximize energy shield. Occultists also may serve as a generic way to generate Power Charges in builds which lack other means of doing so.

Ascendancy Class for Rangers

The Ranger is Path of Exile’s pure dexterity class, which befits her slim and graceful appearance.


The Deadeye is an offense-oriented class that focuses on projectile damage and area of effect. This class is obviously suited for bow attacks but most of its modifiers apply to any sort of projectile, meaning most projectile attacks (such as those fired from Wands) and some spell projectiles also benefit from them.


The Raider focuses on maintaining buffs, gaining Frenzy Charges, Onslaught, or Phasing through kills. She can specialize in one of these buffs to enhance its effect, greatly boosting her speed and evasion. Despite what the class icon shows, this class doesn’t have any modifiers specific to melee damage, so ranged attacks will receive those bonuses as well.


The Pathfinder’s focal point is her flasks, which she can improve to grant additional offensive or defensive bonuses. The Pathfinder is a flexible class; her tree allows using both spells and attacks effectively, and any damage type (elemental, physical or chaos).

Ascendancy Class for Templars

The Templar is Path of Exile’s strength/intelligence hybrid class, a perfect balance of brawn and wits.


Inquisitors focus on elemental damage. They can, among other things, specialize in critical strikes, elemental penetration or buffing themselves with consecrated ground. Most of their skills are compatible with both attacks and spells.


The Hierophant deals and takes damage in unconventional methods rather than in a straightforward way. Hierophants can utilize totems effectively, and have the ability to summon 2 additional totems, at the cost of less damage per totem. They also work well with builds that utilize high amounts of Mana by converting it into defensive bonuses. Templars who rely on multiple skills can take Illuminated Devotion to enhance multiple skills with one of three powerful effects.


Guardians are a powerful option for tank/support Templars dedicated to partying, possessing passives with an emphasis on enhancing and protecting a party. Guardians can specialize in Auras, granting up to 4 additional unique and powerful defensive auras to their party. They also have passives that protect and enhance allies in a number of other ways. Even as a solo character, Guardians themselves can benefit from its selection of defensive passives, or use their auras and buffs to command an army of minions.

Ascendancy Class for Scions

The Ascendant offers flexibility more than any other class by allowing the player to take passives based on other Ascendancy classes. These passives offer similar benefits representing the class’s overall tree, but with mitigated effects. Only one Ascendancy class passive can be taken from each base class. The Ascendant can allocate up to two Ascendancy class passives and can further invest onto one class’s path to gain the ability to use that class’s starting point on the passive skill tree as a second starting point.

Path Of Exile Version 3.1.0 Is Available On PC Now

Path of Exile 3.1.0: War for the Atlas and Abyss Challenge League have been released for PC (change log). “An ancient being, known as The Elder, undermines the Creator’s rule over the Atlas of the Worlds and spreads fear and terror,” writes Grinding Gear Games. The developers promise 32 new maps (Endgame), new boss encounters with the Elder and his four guards, another quest and many new items.   • Added a new Dexterity/Intelligence Skill Gem – Volatile Dead: Corpses near the targeted location explode, dealing damage in a small area and creating an orb which moves towards nearby enemies before dealing spell damage in a larger area. The explosion of the corpse is not affected by modifiers to spell damage, and cannot be reflected.
  • Vulnerability has been split into two skill gems – Vulnerability and Despair. Vulnerability, a Strength Skill Gem, curses all targets in an area, causing them to take increased physical damage and increased physical damage over time. Attacks against cursed enemies have a chance to inflict bleeding and maim.

  • Challenge leagues are a great opportunity for a fresh start in a new economy. All of your old characters and items are still present in the Standard and Hardcore leagues, but you’re encouraged to join the new leagues, complete challenges and demonstrate your mastery of Path of Exile!
  • With 3.1.0, there are Standard and Hardcore variations of the Abyss challenge league available, as well as solo self-found variants of both. They have the same core mechanics and items. In the Abyss League, players will encounter cracks in the ground. Get too close, and these cracks widen and spread, allowing the terrible monsters to climb from their inky depths. Pursue these cracks, and you may discover a massive chasm from which dangerous packs of monsters emerge. Once you defeat these monsters, the Abyss continues to propagate, creating more chasms. Take too long, and the Abyss will seal shut, but if you’re quick and deadly enough, a chest filled with valuable rewards will emerge from below.
  • As players progress through the Abyss League, some pits may offer access to the Abyssal Depths below. These Abyssal Depths are packed with monstrous creatures and valuable rewards, and culminate in an exciting boss encounter.
  • Exploring the Abyssal Depths in high-level areas might result in an encounter with a Lich boss. These difficult boss fights are quite rare, but very rewarding. Defeating a Lich is the only way to earn an exclusive Abyss Unique item.
  • Monsters and chests from the Abyss can drop Abyss Jewels. Like other Jewels, these can be placed in sockets in your passive tree to grant powerful bonuses. Unlike other Jewels, they have a set of exclusive new properties and can also be placed in Abyssal Sockets on your items! These sockets can be found on the new Abyss Uniques and a new base type of Abyss-socketed belt: the Stygian Vise.
  • The Abyss League includes a set of 40 new challenges. When you complete 12 challenges, you receive the Abyss Helmet skin. At 24, you receive the Abyss Wings. When you complete your 36th challenge, you receive the Abyss Portal effect. These microtransactions are exclusively available in the Abyss League.
  • From the 19th challenge onwards and for every third challenge after that, you receive pieces of an Abyss Totem Pole decoration to display in your hideout. The Totem Pole permanently showcases how many of the Abyss challenges you completed during this league.

Overview Of The Free-To-Play Path Of Exile

Developed by a team of action-RPG fans, Path of Exile will provide players with 6 classes to choose from, along with exploring the fantastic Wraeclast universe. Path of Exile developed by Independent games studio Grinding Gear Games, is a free-to-play PC online action Role-Playing Game (RPG) set in a dark fantasy world.

Playing as one of six character classes, players find themselves forgotten for their past misdeeds to the dark fantasy world of Wraeclast. There, they will encounter hundreds of species of opponents laden with loot and mysterious artefacts as they explore the abandoned continent.

Players will be able to purchase in-game perks, such as extra victory animations, clothing and special effects. To protect the integrity of the game for all players, Grinding Gear Games has decided not to sell abilities or experience points – ensuring a level playing field for everyone in the game.

“We listened to the fan communities of several popular online action RPGs as we designed Path of Exile and are focused on replayability, depth and accessibility,” said Chris Wilson, Grinding Gear Games’ Founder. “We’ve designed the game that we would like to play ourselves, and we know hardcore Diablo, Titan Quest and Dungeon Siege will find the style familiar and addictive.”

Wilson believes there has been a lack of dark fantasy worlds in recent RPGs. “While the art style is a return to the classic dark fantasy that many hardcore players grew up with, we are confident that the difficulty curve is enough for anyone. There are no rainbows and unicorns in our game, but there is plenty of blood and rare items to collect. ”

With an open-ended and flexible skill and item system, randomized items and random dungeons, the game promises three acts of visceral combat gameplay with additional expansions already planned.

Path of Exile has been in development for four years by Grinding Gear Games, and an independent studio of hardcore RPG fans based in Auckland, New Zealand, the land that brought you the Lord of the Rings movies. The team comes from around the world with many team members meeting each other online through their passion for RPGs.
